JOINING

When you join NOCTURNE please create only one account. You will not be making multiple accounts for each of your characters. If you wish to keep track of them, make a thread in the Logbook. Please have a simple and aesthetic display name that avoids the use of numbers and excessive x's or dividers. You must have an account before you can begin site activities!

CHARACTERS

In order to make a character, please use our application form located in the "Creation" board. You can change colors and lyrics, but please keep the font face the same and all other information intact. We ask that you post your first application within a week of joining NOCTURNE. If you fail to do this your account will be deleted due to assumed inactivity. You must wait for your application to be approved by a Staff member before you begin to roleplay, plot, or do other activities. If you post a WIP application (work in progress) and it isn't completed in 5 days, it will be moved into the 'static' section until it is completed.

At NOCTURNE we accept only dogs and wolves, as these canines are at the center of our plot. An occasional hybrid is allowed. You are allowed to make as many characters as you can handle but they must be kept active. When creating your character please keep both eye and fur colors realistic. For example, you will not see a German Shepherd with blue eyes unless it is mixed with a breed that has the gene for that color; the same with Wolves. Amber, gold, and brown are acceptable eye color for wolves. Gray, green, gold, amber, blue, brown, and heterochromia are acceptable for dogs, breed specific. The site allows heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, and any other oriented and gender-identifying characters.

**Important: The site hosts two types of wolves: pure blood and mixed blood, which is further explained in our Plot.

BEING ACTIVE

It is important to dedicate at least one post a week with the site in order to remain active. We certainly encourage more, but understand some of you have busy lives. If you do happen to become too busy for the site, please post a Leave of Absence and let us know; this will come in handy if we have an activity check and you are absent for it, then your account won't be deleted. Activity Checks will happen every month to make sure members are still around and active for posting. If you don't post in the check, we will delete your account.

LEVELS & RATINGS

NOCTURNE is a literate to advanced roleplaying community with a 200 word minimum. All we ask is the use of proper grammar, sentence structure, and a bit of effort. Typos happen, don't worry about them, and don't fret about us kicking you out if you aren't "literate". We accept beginners and won't mind helping you improve but you must meet the word count minimum like everyone else. Furthermore its polite to match your roleplay partner's word count or at least come close, but this isn't required.

This site is rated PG-13 as per Proboards terms of service and you must be 13 years or older to be on this forum. This also means that overly violent, sexual, or demeaning materials must be limited. We allow swearing and some violence and suggestiveness, but you must fade to black if a scene becomes too sexual or violent.

NOCTURNE is semi-realistic so we request that there are no odd colors or other strange things. If you have a question about what is allowed on a character, simply ask.

DO NOT PLAGIARIZE. This means copying someone else's work and claiming it as your own. This applies to both writing and images. Do not claim someone's character or writing but DO credit, credit, credit. When using images for bios or tables, link to the artist you found the picture from or put credit directly on the image. If you can't link back to the original page, don't use the image. Flickr's creative commons and the Resources of DeviantArt are preferred.

BEHAVIOR

This shouldn't have to be a section but we want to be sure you understand what we expect of our members on NOCTURNE. Both Staff and regular members must be respected at all times. There are no exceptions to this rule and incidents of disrespect, degradation, and bullying will not be tolerated. If you are rude, start fights or arguments, or talk bad about other members, you will be warned twice then temporarily banned, depending on the issue. Three strikes. Do not flame, "troll", or cyberbully: these are serious incidents and the Staff will do everything they can to prevent or end such actions. If you see someone disrespecting a member or yourself, PM Staff and either screencap or copy-paste evidence so proper action can be taken. If Staff disrespect members, they will suffer a demotion and possibly a temporary ban.

GRAPHICS

Graphics are encouraged! You are welcome to use tables, both scroll and expanding, but please do not make them wider than 500px. For signatures, please don't exceed 500 x 300. Use only appropriate images for your graphics and try not to make them too bright or too dark that it hurts one's eyes. You may post a request for a Graphics Shop if you have some spiffy photoshop or gimp skills. Again, credit the artists of the images you are using. Avatars should ideally be the same size site-wide. Maximum size of 150w x 200h.
