FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What location is the site modeled after? The city we are set in is modeled after Seattle, Washington, but is a fictional location that isn't as isolated as Seattle is (meaning there aren't as many bodies of water that separate the city from the forest, which is also a vital part of the site's setting). North Bay is still a bay-front city.
What characters do you allow? At Nocturne we only allow wolves and dogs, as these canines are at the center of our plot. However this doesn't include Red Wolves or Maned Wolves. We will allow on RARE occasions a Wolfdog hybrid, but they must be approved by staff with a compelling history that details their lineage. Remember, wolves have been supposedly extinct for perhaps three decades or more, and the site is set in the year 2133.
Where do the Wolves live? The wolves live underground, beneath the streets of North Bay, within the abandoned subway system. The forest is approximately 15-20 miles from North Bay, and is an important food source for the wolves. However they do not live here because they are believed to be extinct and are remaining hidden, and a logging operation in the forest threatens their secret.
How many characters do you allow per person? You may create as many characters as you feel you can handle, but you must keep them active. If they aren't participating in threads for 3 months or more, they will be moved to archives. You can get them back if you feel you can keep them active.
Is there liquid time here?/What is liquid time? Liquid Time is a practice roleplayers use that allows them to place a character in multiple threads without stretching reality and making it seem like they are in multiple places at once. Yes, it is allowed on Nocturne.
Can wolves come from different packs other than those in North Bay? Some, yes. But we need to fill the packs first, and if we come across characters whose history details them coming from different packs too often, we will start asking people to revise their profile. Again, wolves are RARE these days. Any that come from outside of North Bay are likely to be loners or leaving their small family pack to live somewhere else. But it is likely that many wolves' lineages that lead to present day came from the pack formed by the Legendary Last, who vanished from sight to keep his own pack going. Over time he gathered loners who had nowhere to go, and his efforts saved the population in this region of the country. Also some wolves from Solstice pack will have transferred to Rainier (please read the pack threads for more details on this).
Do characters have to be in a pack? This depends on the character. I would prefer that all wolves are in one of the two packs, with an occasional loner, but that Wolf would have a hard time surviving and has a high likelihood of being discovered! Dogs are free to be loners/strays and are not required to be in 4th Street Gang.
Can there be other packs or gangs? In the future, yes! It will help the site have more diversity if there were possibly another wolf pack, and definitely more dog gangs! I know 4th street won't exactly satisfy the personalities of every dog character that comes through, so once the site gets more characters we'll consider suggestions of new packs/gangs.
